The obligatory "before" pictures so you know what we're up against:

This is the cute bird bedspread that was the inspiration/focal point. If we'd had an HGTV "idea board" it would have been our central theme:
Our goal was to do an artsy urban shabby chic look on a budget. This works especially well because since starting at WHS I've learned that there are more thrift stores per capita in Tacoma than any other place in the world.
This mirror is courtesy of the Goodwill on 38th, which requires that I sign the bathroom key out, using my full name.

To add the artsy, urban look, we hunted up some old album covers. This was a challenging task because the albums had to both have the right covers and be deemed "good" music by Becca (she actually has music taste).Once we'd assessed the situation (and had coffee and a full breakfast--hey, it is a Saturday, can expect us to move that fast) we headed out to the Seattle Goodwill to fill in the holes. Here's a tip: Don't go to the biggest Goodwill on the day before Halloween. It's the day after Thanksgiving for thrift stores. Parking lot backups!
After battling the rain and the crowds we finally made it back. This turned into a weird time where we were simultaneously decorating and spraying Becca's roommate's hair black for her Snooki costume. Turns out I'm okay at putting fake eyelashes on. Here's the final product:
Personally, the record headboard is my favorite part!
Doesn't it look warm & cozy??? We (and by "we" I mean "Becca") have a few more finishing touches, such as curtains, but it looks pretty awesome in my humble opinion!
