Last week we were once again on a quest for delicious new food. Linh Son was highly recommended on my favorite review site, Yelp. It sounded especially appealing because it is supposed to be “more than just pho.” The place is tucked in a little strip mall on the corner of Pac Hwy and 320th—not exactly where you’d expect to find good food. The interior is quite interesting (sponge painted flowers on the ceiling), but much bigger than your average pho place, too.
The menu is huge. It doesn’t even have a cover or picture… just food. I was torn between my favorite Vietnamese noodle dish, bun thit nuong (I call this "the noodle bowl," setting it apart from "the noodle soup"), and “do it yourself” summer rolls. I love the idea of summer rolls but hate the shrimp that always comes in them. I finally went with the summer rolls. Good choice!
I decided on BBQ pork was served several thin rice wraps and, three squewers of pork, and plate full of “fixins”—cilantro, lettuce, sprouts, carrots, cucumber, rice noodles, peanuts, and Thai basil. Basically, these are the same ingredients in The Noodle Bowl, but all wrapped up together. Yum. Wrapping the thin, sticky rice wrappers was hard at first, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. I thought the fruits of my labor were quite professional & tasty looking!
(PS- For all you "there's too much foreign-speak on here!" people, there are links to define each of the "strange" words. You're welcome.)

Yum. ¡With capital "Y"!
Let's put this one on our list to meet at one day. Do we have a list? Maybe we should make a list to make a list?
Hey! Don't make fun of my "List of lists" procedure!
